Matthew 9:2 NASB
And they brought to Him a paralytic lying on a bed.
Seeing their faith, Jesus said to the paralytic,
Take courage, son; your sins are forgiven.
Devotional
Your sins are forgiven.
Our fallen human nature would rather be freed from the effects of sin than from sin itself.
It is pure grace when sin weighs heaviest for you.
Such will one day be able to overcome the consequences of sin.
The Savior has power to forgive sins.
A paralytic is brought to Him.
The Savior sees beyond the visible physical paralysis.
Behind that paralysis lies sin.
He therefore says to this paralytic: Your sins are forgiven you.
It is an eternal and incomprehensible wonder to hear that from His mouth.
Forgiveness by grace alone. The injured person is hereby delivered from his greatest ailment: his sins.
In addition, he also receives physical healing.
It is very bad when the physical discomfort weighs the most to us.
By discovering grace, sin may be seen behind the physical discomforts.
Such shall be delivered not only from their bodily discomforts, but also from sin.
