Amos 9:11 NASB
In that day
I will raise up the fallen booth of David,
And wall up its breaches;
I will also raise up its ruins
And rebuild it as in the days of old;
Devotional
How gracious is the Lord that He grants the prospect of mercy at the end of a book full of judgments in the Bible.
The Lord essentially goes back to the old promise given to David that his house would be forever. However, not much is left of David’s dynasty: a poor hut with cracks and fissures.
However, the Lord keeps His promise.
When was this word fulfilled?
Or is the fulfillment yet to come?
We need not speculate on this.
The Scripture is clear in it.
The King of David’s house has come in the Lord Jesus.
He is the eternal King, Who will not be without subjects.
These subjects come from both the Jews and the Gentiles.
In Acts 15 the text is quoted by the apostle James.
It is about, that the church is also built out of the nations.
They too are called to Christ, to acknowledge Him as King and Saviour.
What a mission perspective!
