Matthew 5:10 NASB
Blessed are those who have been persecuted
for the sake of righteousness,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Devotional
For the sake of righteousness, that is, for the just cause of Christ and his teaching; as in the following verse: for My sake.
As a Christian you have to reckon with incomprehension, and slander in a pagan environment, also in your country. Whoever is zealous for the good will come into conflict with the evil.
However, whoever follows the good-doing Jesus, does good.
The aversion to evil grows. All that is right in the footsteps of Jesus is right with God and men.
It is putting God’s justice into practice.
It has continued to look to Jesus who is God’s righteousness in his own Person.
Some of His sufferings will also be experienced by His disciples.
But God sees the righteous in Christ and hears their prayer.
Christ suffered for the unjust and brought them to God.
By grace it is eternally good.
Good versus evil, as blessed versus calamitous.
Blessed is he who hears the King-Servant:
“Blessed are you when men reproach you, and persecute you, and speak, lying, all kinds of evil against you, for my sake. Rejoice and be glad; for great is your reward in heaven.”
