Matthew 4:24 NASB
The news about Him spread throughout all Syria;
and they brought to Him all who were ill,
those suffering with various diseases and pains,
demoniacs, epileptics, paralytics;
and He healed them.
Study
Syria was north of the Galilee, roughly the area of what is now Syria and Lebanon.
Selēniazomenous (lit. those who are lunar sick) were those who suffered from epilepsy, a disease thought in antiquity to be associated with the movements of the moon and therefore called the lunar sickness.
After a general designation for the sick (those who are tormented by all kinds of diseases and pains), three groups are mentioned by name: the possessed, epileptics and lame.
These were probably the worst cases of illness at the time, which were considered incurable.
