I will make you fishers of men (Matthew 4:19)
Matthew 4:19 NASB
And He said to them,
Follow Me,
and I will make you fishers of men.
Devotional
God does not need people to expand His kingdom.
But it pleases Him, to call puny little men, to His service.
And make them robbers of hell.
Then it is first necessary to be called to the sonship of God.
That precedes. That is essential for every person above all else.
To be called out of darkness into God’s wonderful light.
The Lord does not need many words to call and make one willing.
Where the Word of the King is, there is dominion.
Here resistance will not help. All objections are swept away.
Follow Me! And there they go.
Drawn irresistibly by Him.
They don’t pay attention to what they are.
Then they can never become fishers of men, then they can do no good.
But they watch on what He’ll make of them: “I’ll make you.”
Then He gives everything that is needed.
▪︎ A heart to witness,
▪︎ a mouth to speak.
Then simple fishermen become foundations of the Church.
Then there will be nothing of us, and only God will get the glory.
That’s what it’s always about!
