Matthew 4:11 NASB
Then the devil left Him;
and behold, angels came
and began to minister to Him.
Devotional
With the words of the above text, the story of the temptation of Jesus by the devil in the desert ends.
It is a glorious ending, for it appears that the Lord Jesus has stood firm and comes out victorious.
He proved himself superior to the first Adam.
When he was tempted in Paradise, he fell. And yet his circumstances were so much more favorable than those of the Lord Jesus.
Adam was in a Paradise where he could eat to his heart’s content, while the Lord, after forty days in the wilderness, was starving.
What happened with the Lord Jesus, the Lord also will happen with His church. We are allowed to resist Satan by the power of His grace.
The heart from which sin departs, is filled with the salvation of heaven.
Oh no, not because we did so well, but because the Savior and Mediator deserved it for us. And it is for this merit that not only God’s favor here on earth becomes the part of the church, but soon also the full salvation of heaven.
