Matthew 3:15 NASB
But Jesus answering said to him,
Permit it at this time;
for in this way it is fitting for us
to fulfill all righteousness.
Then he permitted Him.
Devotional
When Jesus came to the Jordan to John, he refused to baptize Him, saying, I need to be baptized by You, and You come to me?
But John the Baptist’s reservations were silenced.
▪︎ It lives in the heart of the Savior, to do the will of the Father fully.
▪︎ He wants to humble Himself, also in baptism.
▪︎ He will not neglect anything that the Father requires of Him.
What a preaching emanates from the baptism of the Saviour.
For Jesus the water of baptism refers to the flood of God’s wrath.
He will, and must fulfill all righteousness.
Going the way of suffering and death, He will gain life for His Church.
The resurrection from the baptismal water refers to the resurrection from the dead. He is the Prince of Life. All righteousness, all that God requires and commands, He will do.
Are you made willing to do what the Lord requires?
Without grace a man is unwilling.
Grace in principle makes willing.
From the hearts of God’s children, the remaining unwillingness will one day completely disappear.
