Genesis 9:1-6 NASB
¹And God blessed Noah and his sons and said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth.
²The fear of you and the terror of you will be on every beast of the earth and on every bird of the sky; with everything that creeps on the ground, and all the fish of the sea, into your hand they are given.
³Every moving thing that is alive shall be food for you; I give all to you, as I gave the green plant. ⁴Only you shall not eat flesh with its life, that is, its blood. ⁵Surely I will require your lifeblood; from every beast I will require it. And from every man, from every man’s brother I will require the life of man.
⁶Whoever sheds man’s blood, By man his blood shall be shed, For in the image of God He made man.
Devotional
We live in a critical period in which not only different civilizations and cultures are intermingled with others, but for the first time there is also real contact between countries and people of different skin color on the basis of equality and mutual respect.
But it is not just a question of simply eradicating poverty, ignorance and disease.
▪︎ It is for the Christian, who lives from the flesh, first and foremost about creating a world in which every man, every woman and every child has the right to a dignified existence, without regard to persons, and that they can exercises this right, free from enslavement, oppression and exploitation by one’s fellow man.
▪︎ Their aim is to create a world in which freedom, peace, and security have meaning for everyone.
▪︎ Their aim is to create a world in which rich and poor can live and let live.
▪︎ Their aim is to create a world in which people see each other as fellow human beings, who have received distinct gifts from the creator, but who work together in freedom for a better, more human world.
On the other hand, there are also Christians who live from the Spirit, and their main concern is to reach their fellow man, both unbelievers and believers who still live from the flesh, with the gospel of the Lord and Savior.
Starting from the promise that Jesus gave:
Matthew 6:33 NASB
But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness,
and all these things will be added to you.
They do believe that all the aforementioned things are automatically a consequence of a real and actual conversion to the Christ, for how could one who loves the other, as he loves himself, harm that other person?
▪︎ How could such a person not, irrespective of persons, give another person the right to an existence worthy of human dignity, free from enslavement, oppression and exploitation?
▪︎ How could such a person not grant and give another freedom, peace, and security. And by giving this (nonviolent and in love), not experiencing this himself too?
▪︎ How could such a person fail to help another in need?
▪︎ How could such a person not see another as a fellow human being, a fellow human whom he loves, and who has also received distinct gifts from the creator?
Now the question:
What group of Christians do you belong to?
● Are you trying to improve the world in your own strength? And are you fully committed to that goal?
(I can tell you that you’ll fail)
● Or are you trying to bring your fellow man to the Christ, so that he too will experience the love of the Christ, and share it with others, so that the world will change through the love of the Christ?
