1 Kings 8:27 NASB
But will God indeed dwell on the earth?
Behold, heaven and the highest heaven cannot contain You,
how much less this house which I have built!
Devotional
Do you go to church on Sunday?
If you can, definitely do so!
There is much to give thanks, to pray and to learn.
Solomon and the people come together in the new house of God.
Solomon praises the LORD, a praise that turns into a prayer.
One thing Solomon is well aware of: However everything glitters in this house of cedar and of gold, it cannot contain the God of Israel. He is higher, greater, holier.
Do we recognize anything from Solomon’s experience?
We learn that when we deal with God’s Word daily.
Doesn’t that also make His greatness and majesty more apparent in the creation around us?
Who is like unto our LORD, to God, who hath established His throne in heaven for His everlasting glory?
Hasn’t that made us small?
And when we are small, then we may just magnify Him in His house, which cannot contain Him.
Yet He wants to be sought, thanked and praised by us there.
