Then saith the damsel that kept the door unto Peter,
Art not thou also one of this man’s disciples?
He saith, I am not.

Christ challenges us to loyalty to Him above loyalty to self-interest.
Jesus was brought before the high priest for trial.
The question, “Are not you also one of this man’s disciples?” was addressed to Peter. It was an explosive element in the tense, drama-filled hours preceding the crucifixion. Peter denied his discipleship.
Only a few hours earlier, Peter had assured Jesus of his loyalty and readiness for any test of devotion to the Master. But when the hour of trial came, Peter denied Jesus.
What shall we say when challenged to declare our relationship to Christ?
▪︎ Shall we witness for Him?
▪︎ Or shall we through weakness, or lack of faith, lose the opportunity?
The test comes each day.
▪︎ In business it may be a temptation to overcharge a customer, underpay an employee, or be unfair to a competitor.
▪︎ It may be a temptation to indulge in an immoral act.
In each situation, Christ Himself can be our strength.
Through Him we can overcome our weakness and prove ourselves faithful.
Prayer suggestions
▪︎ Ask God to help you to realize always, and under all circumstances, that we are disciples of the Christ.
▪︎ Ask God to save us from weakness and indecision.
▪︎ Ask God to give us awareness of our high calling in Jesus.
