Jesus, the Christ, as king
Jesus is declared to be a king at his birth. He descends from the royal line of David. People rejected his kingly claims at his crucifixion but God exalted him to His rightful place of power and majesty, and at the end of time Jesus Christ will rule the nations for ever.

Devotional
The Lord Jesus was judged not only by the Sanhedrin, but also by Pilate.
Pontius Pilate is the secular judge.
The competent court in Israel.
Pilate inquires about the kingship of Jesus. For thus the Jews handed him over. That was an indictment that Pilate would listen to.
Art thou the King of the Jews? He asks. Jesus confirms that. You say so, He answers.
We all want to be king.
That is our paradise desire.
▪︎ We want to decide for ourselves what is right and wrong.
▪︎ We want to keep things in our own hands,
▪︎ We want to be at the helm of our life ship ourselves,
▪︎ We want to determine the course of our lives ourselves.
However, there is another King. He wants to hold sway over our lives with the scepter of His dominion of grace.
To this cause He was condemned as a rebel by Pilate.
▪︎ He stood trial in the place of revolutionaries.
▪︎ He was sentenced by insurgents.
▪︎ He gave Himself for His subjects.
He is King forever, and He will not be without subjects. His confession here before Pilate is truthful: You say so. I am King.
Happy if we lose it to Him.
All the way
