Mark 13:20
And except that the Lord
had shortened those days,
no flesh should be saved:
but for the elect’s sake,
whom he hath chosen,
he hath shortened the days.
Devotional
The last of the days is an awful time.
It is a horror such as has never been on Earth.
We’re already seeing a little bit of it in our days. What then should it give at the end of time. But the Lord shortens those days. And He does that for the sake of the elected.
Those are the ones He loves with an eternal love, and whom He guides by His eternal Spirit, and whom He chooses to be with Him eternally. That’s the people He lives in.
But they too could even fall away because of the heat of the tribulation, when the man of sin will reveal himself and Satan will walk around like a roaring lion, seeking whom he can devour.
The days are getting shorter.
Time flies, we say.
Life is breathtaking, you could say that you cannot keep up.
As winter sets in, the days shorten.
The end of the year is then approaching.
But this also means that the new year is approaching.
So before the great day dawns, when no evening will follow, because it will be everlasting light, the days will be shortened.
But then in a moment the Sun of righteousness will rise.
