Mark 13 is about “the last things”.
Talking about it is frightening for many.
This can be explained, because the image that is evoked is full of threat.
Terror and persecution are announced. Yet Jesus is not out to frighten His disciples; on the contrary, He is here is encouraging: do not be alarmed!
If we are concerned about what still needs to be done, we should involve it more.
After all, for the believers, it is not ruin, but redemption that is imminent. This doesn’t mean that it will be easy.
Being hated and facing persecution is never easy.
But whoever will hold on to His name to the end, will be saved.
