Mark 10:14 AV
But when Jesus saw it,
he was much displeased,
and said unto them,
Suffer the little children
to come unto me,
and forbid them not:
for of such is the kingdom of God.
Power impresses.
We often look up to people.
But the Lord looks down on them.
In His eye earthly greatness is insignificant and small.
He looks for the poor and those who are nothing in themself.
God’s Kingdom is for children; we have to become like a child to enter it.
It takes no merit on our part.
After all, a child is not innocent either: we are all conceived and born in sin.
It is meant that a child can live only through the love and care of the parents. It has to receive everything and is totally dependent.
That characterizes faith: living in dependence on God, and on His grace.
In this way we also get to know the Lord.
We love Him because He first loved us.
That miracle is the sacred secret of God’s Kingdom.
