Mark 5:28
For she said,
If I may touch but his clothes,
I shall be whole.
A person can worry so much…
We read an example of this today in that bleeding woman. She had suffered from that ailment for many years (12). She had taken all her savings to the doctors, but they had not been able to help her. According to the Mosaic law she was completely unclean.
Doesn’t a man who has discovered that he is no more than a sinner, look exactly like her?
For what does a person do, who has discovered to be fatally ill from sin?
That person wil follow this pastor for some time, then that one, and later again some other. All because he is hoping to find a cure for his sin. But he doesn’t find it. For any pastor can do no more than pointing him where he has to go. He must go to Jesus!
But when does such a discovered soul go to Jesus?
He only goes to Jesus when his “savings” have been used up, that is, when he has experienced that he cannot find any healing anywhere. It was the same with this woman.
Finally she comes to the conclusion: I will go to Him. He alone can help me.
And then we see that when this woman has put all her expectation on Him, then she was healed.
