Micah 5:7 KJV
And the remnant of Jacob shall be
in the midst of many people
as a dew from the Lord,
as the showers upon the grass,
that tarrieth not for man,
nor waiteth for the sons of men.
And later, Jacob ‘s people who are still alive will be in many countries. They will be everywhere, like water on the ground in the early morning, or rain on the grass. The Lord sends the water to help the plants, but no human can make it stay.

Remnant of Jacob
Already mentioned in Micah 5:3. It in comparative smallness stands in antithesis to the “many people.”
Dew
Though Israel be but a remnant amidst many nations after her restoration, yet she shall exercise the same blessed influence in quickening them spiritually that the small imperceptible dew exercises in refreshing the grass (Deuteronomy 32:2 , Psalms 72:6, 110:3).
The influence of the Jews restored from Babylon in making many Gentile proselytes is an earnest of a larger similar effect hereafter (Isaiah 66:19, Zechariah 8:13).
From the Lord
Israel’s restoration and the consequent conversion of the gentiles are solely grace of the Lord.
Tarrieth not for man
Entirely God’s work, as independent of human contrivance as the dew and rains that fertilize the soil.

A dew from the Lord
The purpose of this text is to indicate how in the days of the Messiah Jacob’s remnant will be like a green meadow, which will blossom under God’s blessing hand thanks to the dew and rain.
We may think in particular of Pentecost.
God poured out His Spirit, causing Jacob’s remnant to flourish vigorously in faith, hope and love.
It is because of the dew of the Spirit that there is
▪︎ a clear assurance in faith,
▪︎ a testimony full of fire,
▪︎ a living walk with God.
Even today we still need it so much.
How often do faith, hope, and love suffer a languishing existence, even in the Christian congregations?
Is there no general complaint about dullness?
How necessary is the dew of heaven.
▪︎ That God will pour out the streams of His Spirit over us, so that God’s Church will bloom again.
▪︎ That there is an awakening, a spiritual revival.
Then the glory of the Christ will shine again and many hearts will break through to faith in Him.
