Hosea 8:12 KJV
I have written to him the great things of my law,
but they were counted as a strange thing.
In other words:
I gave all my rules to Israel’s people. But they look at those rules as if they were strange.
Israel has a special place among the nations. The Lord has chosen this people. He gave His people His Law. He taught it the way to go. “The excellencies of My Law,” says the Lord Himself. Because that Law is perfect. There is nothing wrong with it.
Did Israel appreciate that?
On the contrary, it was a strange thing for this people. They did not understand. They were counterproductive.
The Lord has revealed Himself even more clearly to us.
He brought us into contact with His Word, with the Gospel of His grace, in which He demands nothing, only promises.
Has that Gospel also remained a strange message to us?
Or are we accepting it with all our heart?
