In almost every place someone is living, who is called a ‘striking figure’ for such a place. It is someone who is not easily forgotten even after his or her death. Events around such a person are often picked up during birthdays or weddings. “Remember, …”
We can also call Moses a striking figure. How much can be said about him!
After all, he led the people of Israel during the exodus from Egypt and throughout the desert journey. Moses also personally received the two stones with the Law of God from God’s hands. Just think about that, when you hear the law of the Lord read to you again.
He receives his name from Pharaoh’s daughter, after he was raised by his own mother.
Moses means in Egyptian something like: Child of the Nile, in Hebrew something like: Drawn from the water!
Moses also fulfilled a mediatorship, especially when he prayed for the sinful people, “Then blot me out of your book, O Lord, but spare the people!”
Moses points in that action, to the Mediator, who in His death and resurrection saves His people!
