The phrase “for many be called, but few chosen” is omitted without a footnote by the New American Standard Bible, as well as by the Revised Version.

These familiar words are not in the early manuscripts, several cursives, Sahidic, and some Boharic and Ethiopic manuscripts, but do appear in slightly more recent manuscripts, and Latin manuscripts.
Apparently Tischendorff’s 1841 Greek New Testament was the first printed edition to omit this clause.
The same words appear in Matthew 22:14.
