Hebrews 12:5 (KJV)
And ye have forgotten the exhortation which speaketh unto you (which is addressed to you) as unto children (as sons), My son, despise not thou (do not regard lightly) the chastening (the discipline) of the Lord, nor faint when thou art rebuked of (reproved by) him.
When even an earthly father will discipline his children, because he truly loves them, and only wants the best for them; how much more will our heavenly Father discipline His own.
▪︎ His love for us is much more than any earthly father could ever give.
▪︎ He wants the uttermost best for us, and He will correct us whenever we go a way which is not leading to His purpose for us.
Faint not when you are reproved by him, for He does not condemn us, like a judge in a courtroom.
For the Bible teaches us in Romans 8:1
There is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.
▪︎ His disciplinary actions (His chastening) towards us are not legal punishments, but rather parental corrections.
▪︎ His disciplinary actions are not required by “the rules,” but are done as deeds of love, helping us to grow in Him, and learn His ways of holiness, for our good and His glory.
