Matthew 21:5
Tell ye the daughter of Sion,
Behold, thy King cometh unto thee,
meek, and sitting upon an ass,
and a colt the foal of an ass.
Devotional
The kingdom of heaven never comes to us with outward show.
And neither is the King of that realm.
- When He enters this world, it is not as a royal prince, who is born in a great, beautiful, palace, but as a poor child, in the stable of Bethlehem.
- When He later as a grown man enters Jerusalem, while at that moment many desire to serve Him as King, it is not on a warhorse, with the purple robe about His limbs, but then He comes in all simplicity. Riding on a donkey.
Is it not the same with His approach to the soul of a sinner?
He doesn’t overcome and captivate the hearts of His own by appearing in shining majesty, but He comes to them with the far greater power of His mercy, as upon the breath of the sweet gospel which He came into the world to preach; seeking and saving that which was lost.
In the word, He comes in His love.
Nothing can break our hard heart, but exactly that love.
That love conquers all.
