Luke 15:9
When she has found it,
she calls together her friends and neighbors,
saying, ‘Rejoice with me,
for I have found the coin which I had lost!’

John 10:1-10
¹Truly, truly, I say to you, he who does not enter by the door into the fold of the sheep, but climbs up some other way, he is a thief and a robber.
²But he who enters by the door is a shepherd of the sheep. ³To him the doorkeeper opens, and the sheep hear his voice, and he calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. ⁴When he puts forth all his own, he goes ahead of them, and the sheep follow him because they know his voice.
⁵A stranger they simply will not follow, but will flee from him, because they do not know the voice of strangers.”
⁶This figure of speech Jesus spoke to them, but they did not understand what those things were which He had been saying to them.
⁷So Jesus said to them again, “Truly, truly, I say to you, I am the door of the sheep. ⁸All who came before Me are thieves and robbers, but the sheep did not hear them.
⁹I am the door; if anyone enters through Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture.
¹⁰The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly.
Today I will seek God, that I may have life abundant.
A few years ago a man lost his passport in London, just two days before he was planning to sail home. He immediately went to the embassy.
The gentleman in charge was kind.
He gave him this advice: “Go back to the places you visited yesterday. Call at the nearest police station. You will probably find your passport.”
He did as he was advised, and he found his passport.
We sometimes lose our spiritual passports.
We get out of touch with God and His fold.
We then need to go back to the places where we were once sure of our Christian experience.
Through prayer, through the study of the Bible, and through the fellowship the church offers, we can find anew the visions for the living of our lives.
Jacob went to Bethel, Isaiah to the temple, the prodigal son to his father, Thomas to the upper room. Everyone found what he had lost. All of us have need from time to time to lay claim to that which we can lose through carelessness or neglect.
Has not the Lord said to the house of Israel, “Seek ye me, and ye shall live”?
Prayer suggestions
▪︎ Ask God forgiveness for the many times you have displeased Him
▪︎ Ask God forgiveness for the many times you have failed to do those things you ought to have done.
▪︎ Ask God forgiveness for the many times you have committed those acts you ought not to have done.
▪︎ Ask God to renew your life in Him through the Christ.
