Genesis 16:13
And she called the name of the LORD that spake unto her,
Thou God seest me: for she said,
Have I also here looked after him that seeth me?
Devotional
Give thanks unto the Lord;
for He is good for His mercy endureth forever
To me,
As a child, God’s eye was very real.
▪︎ I had the belief that it was an eye critical of my failures and shortcomings.
▪︎ I thought of it as an eye intently watching to catch me in some evil act.
▪︎ It was, to my thinking, an eye without love, without compassion.
▪︎ It made me feel uneasy and fearful.
From it I could not hide.
As an adult, I still feel the eye of God upon me.
▪︎ But He watches in a different way than I believed He did when I was a child.
▪︎ While He does not always look upon me with approval, I know He is kind and understanding.
▪︎ He is still there, but watching always to protect me, to sympathize with my weaknesses;
▪︎ He knows the future.
▪︎ He encourages me by His steadfast watchfulness.
▪︎ His is the eye of a loving Father.
Like as a father pitieth his children,
so the Lord pitieth them that fear him.”
Prayer suggestions
▪︎Thank the Lord for the peace that comes to your heart when you think of Him as a loving Father who yearns to help you.
▪︎Ask the Lord that you may this day enjoy His blessings.
▪︎Ask the Lord to use you in His service to bless others.
