Ecclesiastes 10:1 NASB
Dead flies make a perfumer’s oil stink,
so a little foolishness is weightier
than wisdom and honor.
Other translations
King James Version
Dead flies cause the ointment of the apothecary to send forth a stinking savour: so doth a little folly him that is in reputation for wisdom and honour.”
Devotional
It is a good thing to accept the Gift of the Lord Jesus and His sacrifice onto your life, and take up your cross and follow Him in the narrow way. The Lord will impute His righteousness to you, and you will become a sweet savor unto the LORD.
As a sweet savor, you must keep exhibiting your good virtues to draw people to Christ. Allowing a little leaven or compromise can destroy your hard-earned reputation.
1 Corinthians 5:6
… Do you not know that a little leaven leavens the whole lump of dough?
When King David compromised his position and committed adultery with Bathsheba, he lost his reputation and came close to losing his throne to his own son, Absalom.
Dear friends, avoid any compromise no matter how small it may seem. It could damage your image as a child of God and turn away people from the Lord.
Let your good deeds bring glory to the Lord!
Prayer suggestion
▪︎ Ask the Lord to keep you away from all compromising.
