Jeremiah 6:16 NASB
Thus says the Lord,
“Stand by the ways and see
and ask for the ancient paths,
Where the good way is, and walk in it;
And you will find rest for your souls.
But they said, ‘We will not walk in it. ‘
Devotional
Temptation is a choice between the old path (God’s will for us) and an other (maybe a new?) path provided by Satan.
So often Satan’s path is presented to us as a shortcut to happiness, prosperity, and accomplishment. (Satan will usually promise you exactly that what the flesh wants to have).
However, this path leads us away from God and the blessings He longs to give us.
Let’s not be like the people of God in Jeremiah’s time who refused God’s way and said, “We will not walk in it.”
The outcome of their choice was their own destruction.
Prayer suggestion
▪︎ Ask the Lord to forgive you for turning from His path.
▪︎ Ask the Lord to forgive you for seeking a way that seems easier and a path that appears to lead to happiness more quickly.
▪︎ Ask the Lord to help you to look through the facades of Satan’s tempations and see their bitter end result.
▪︎ Ask the Lord to give you courage to walk in His way confidently.
